in Candle Suppliers Interviews

I am glad to bring you my first interview with Vickey from Kentucky Candle Supplies.  Get to know her and her business a little bit better.

1.  Where are you from?  I am from Mt Vernon, Ky

2.  Tell us a little about yourself?(kids, hobbies, pets)  I am married for 28 years, have 2 boys, ages 21 and 24 ,and then 2 grandchildren .    I love anything kitchen related.  I love cooking, kitchen gadgets and recipe books.  Even tho we are a supply business, I still love to actually get in there and make candles too. ( I am also a silicone mold addict…I  love to use them making candles and soaps)

3.  What prompted you to start your business?  Actually I didn’t plan on being a supplier, just a candle maker.   God just opened the doors for our business to grow in that direction.  Besides me and my husband, both of our sons work for us.  We are just a business of just 4 people, but we work really hard at our business, and feel very blessed to have it.

4.  How long have you been in business?  We made our first sale in July of 2001.

5.  Describe your business?  We sell candle making supplies online, we also have a storefront where customers can pick up….and I do sell candles and other items in there as well.

6.  What is your most popular selling item?  Definitely our Kysoy 125 wax, as far as supplies.  In finished products, our wax tarts are the most popular.

7.  What is the one thing that would surprise us about yourself ? That I am our piano player and help with song leading in church.  I love to sing Gospel music, and recorded a New CD this year.

8.  What is in your CD player? Some kind of Gospel CD,
9.  What magazine would you like to be on the cover of?  Definitely Taste of Home

10. Your favorite vacation spot?  I like to stay home on vacation time and just flop and rest…:-) I am not a traveler at all.
11. If you were to give a piece of advice, what would it be?  The best advice in business I ever got was from another supplier who told me….  never go in debt for more than you can pay for within 30 days.  That way if you have to close your business…you will not be left in debt.   We do our best to follow that rule in our business and in our personal finances.
