There is so much talk of recession and dropping retail sales. It has a lot of people “booking for the hills”. Don’t let all that talk get you down. Maybe offline businesses may have slowed down, but I do not think online has slowed down.
The only reason why I say offline is because of what is stated in the media including newspaper headlines. I cannot make a judgement on the accuracy of that information.
Despite all the negative retail sales news the internet world is a completely different ball game. No matter what the media states it is still very lucrative to keep going online and have a solid plan of attack. I have listed some ideas to get your blog or newsletter going. You probably wonder why I always refer to the blog. You can read my reasons why to blog, blog, blog =).
Here are some ideas to help monetize your blog to help increase online holiday sales.
1. Video on how to decorate for the holidays with your candles
~I use the simple video recording from my digital camera then upload it to Youtube.com
~I did some captions using tools on YouTube, but they are too simple. I will have to explore other free video editing tools.
2. Contests= Have a special Christmas giveaway with a special holiday candle unique only to your online store.( Holiday candle giveaway)
~When I did mine I only notified my Priority Notification List for the contest. This is incentive for potential subscribers to sign up for your newsletter list.
~Run your giveaway or contest so that your subscribers would have to leave comments. This makes your blog active. It encourages a community following.
3. Priority Nofication List~ Give your list special treatment, special sales/offers, special products, first to try new products, ect. This encourages more potential customers to sign up for you list.
4. Have special bloggers write on their blog or your blog specifically about your new products
~ They give you product reviews or testimonies
~ Customers enjoy product reviews.
~ Gives you more authority in your niche. =)
5. Guest Bloggers~ Bloggers that do not compete in your niche, but will write posts that enhance your products or can give your list great information relevant to your products.
~ Candle holder makers, tin ware suppliers, crafters
6. Conduct a blog carnival~ gathering of bloggers with website for a fun sale
~get people geared up for special day with special door prizes and sales
~ have contributor email their list to your blog
~way to drive traffic and pick up more subscribers
7. Write relevant content that your subscribers are looking for.
~ find articles by looking through google forums on the subject.
~ Make yourself your own target market
To get the ball rolling. I would be interested in hosting some guest bloggers that use my silicone molds. Email me for more information frenchhillcountry@hotmail.com .
