How many of you get disappointed when someone unsubscribes from your newsletter list? Do you what wonder what you did or didn’t do? Or maybe wonder that what you write about is boring?
I wonder about these issues all the time when someone unsubscribes from my list. I wonder if I was too boring or I didn’t do something right. Maybe I offended someone and did not realize it.
There has been some talk about this subjects from WAHM’s in general. Some were offended and did not know how to accept the let down. Some of these WAHM’s were even having trouble when someone would unfollow them from twitter.
For myself personally I am very sensative. It took me awhile to get over the thought of someone unsubscribing. I knew if I hung on to those depressed feelings I would not get very far in business. I had to eventually suck it up and move on.
How do I move on when I found my sign up list basically unmoving? I would have a couple sign up and then a couple would unsubscribe. The unmoving list was getting me down. What do I have to do to get subscribers to stick around? What do I have to work on getting my list to increase?
I felt I was putting out valuable information, but still the list remained stagnant. What am I doing wrong?
I found this great post on the exact subject and the information is coming from the subscribers perspective. Confessions Of An Unsubscriber.
The ones that spoke to me are:
Bad fit- either I was not in their target market, our personalities clashed, or the material presented was either too advanced or not advanced enough for me.
Time constraints and a commitment to myself and my husband- I get hundreds of emails each day, so to add myself to a new list I unsubscribe to one giving me less value.
If you are in this position, I hope the list from an subscribers perspective helps you out. It definitely spoke to me. I did need to figure out the focus of my newsletter and blog and I once I knew I took a stand in the direction knowing that some of the information may not appeal to some of the readers.
Remember you cannot appeal to everyone. As long as your information is relevant and focused it will weed out the subscribers that want to remain on your list and the ones that don’t.
