The Ever Popular Candle And Soap Fundraisers

by dawnaurora on February 6, 2009

kidfundraiserFundraising is very popular around this time of year.  I tackled fundraising once in my candle making lifetime.  It was during the fall fundraising season.  I did pretty well.  If I could do the fundraising event all over again, I would. My catalog and information was out of the stone ages.  I looked very unprofessional, but luckily the buying customers were willing to help out a fundraiser.

Fundraising is very popular for the spring season besides the fall. It is a great way to earn more income when business and craft shows are slow(depending on your area). When you know what your slow seasons are for your online and offline candle and soap business start thinking of ways to supplement or get you through the slight drought.

Here are some tips where to start your fundraising search:
1. Schools~ it would really help if you had a friend in the school district that could get you in. That is how I got in.
2. 4-H Clubs
3. Boy/Girl Scout Clubs
4. Non-profit Organization in your area~ For example riding for the handicapped program.

General Fundraising Information:
1. Groups like variation in prices
~ half of the products in the expensive range
~Few in moderate range
2. Have a top 10 list of spring and summer scents
3. Determine the amount the organization makes on the candles or soaps
4. Create your necessary business information
5. May consider writing up a contract with the organization on the details of the fundraiser
6. Arrange specific dates when orders are to be turned in

This is a great way to boost your spring sales. Also, this is a great way to get your product out to more people. People are usually very willing to buy for a good cause. Fundraisers connect you to potential long-term customers that may not ordinarily buy your product.

If you are looking for more detailed information on fundraising, check out this book Stop Burning Time and Money With Your Candle Business. I know this has candle making in mind, but the book can be used for other products.

Many Blessings,

Dawn
