I recently received an unsubscribe from my newsletter list where they had posted that “I wrote too often and they couldn’t keep up and read everything.” I felt very disappointed in the response. My intention was to let everyone know about neat programs to use for your candle or soap online business and marketing methods off and online.
Putting that aside I completely understand their stance. Lately I have been unsubscribing from lists that did not pertain to me and my business. To help simplify your business and keep in focus you do need to assess whether or not a newsletter, forum, the next amazing ebook etc would help advance your business.
How does this subject to help you? The main issue is how many newsletters do
you feel is necessary to send to your subscribers. Do you ever wonder that? After the comment (which I am greatful for) was made Istarted wondering myself.
Here is some feedback on what some other website owners with newsletters had to say.
Well not quite every week. But almost every week do tend to lead them back to the blog. Sometimes it’s a list of posts like a digest. Sometimes it is just one particular post I want to bring to their attention.
I just did a survey for my readers and found out that they like personal updates from me just as much as the posts from the blog, which is set for 5 posts in aweber
Chalk an unsubscribing person up to not being part of your target market. It is good to have a focused newsletter that filters out the subscribers that are not going to participate in your blog or business. Well, now I am kind of going off my main topic.
I think that putting out a newsletter or email once a week or once every 2 weeks is an adequate amount. I enjoy keeping you updated.
I am on some lists where some successful internet marketers send out one newsletter or 2 every week. The whole idea is to keep in touch with your readers. They want to stay in the loop and be a part of a community. Again keep in touch and also be consistent with your readers.
When you have your subscribers feeling like a part of a community they want to respond to your new products, old products, thoughts and whatever your newsletter is about. Your subscribers become very loyal to you and you gain their trust.
In conclusion I wouldn’t worry about the frequency of newsletters, but I would put a lot of thought into what I feel my readers want. They are your community. Here is to giving your community what they want.

I guess I never thought about this one Dawn! I typically only send out 1 newsletter per month with just a few updates, new scents or products and of any sales. I have people leave from time to time, but not a big deal. If their not interested I’d rather not bore them.
I just keep mine basic and to the point. I don’t do recipes or anything fun that way. Maybe a tad about my personal life. that’s it!! I struggle sometimes with my target audience as my site is very primitive, but about 94% of my customers do not even get into prims.
Oh one other thing I have noticed is that customers love to hear about you!! You don’t need to go into every detail about your personal life, but they love to hear your hobbies, what’s going on in your life. Maybe more of a personable feel
