Anyone can sell from their blog. If you have a blog already started selling will be easier because you are established in your niche market. Don’t be discouraged if you are starting out.
In less than one year my blog consistently brought in 800 unique visitors per month. It quickly gained on my main business website and I have had this site for 5 years. I use my blog to talk about my business, market my business, talk about family life, provide information that maybe of interest to visitors. I try to blog about subjects that would add value to my readers.
Because of the addition of new and fresh content weekly or even daily, Google enjoys sending their spiders out to weave the new information into their Google system. I have Google alerts set up for my blog and they spider the new posts in less the 4 hours. That is wonderful news. The quicker Google spiders the better ranking your blog site will have.
An informative site put my link on their article about my silicone molds. They were providing a list of silicone mold companies to their readers. This is what I had under my description.
It said that although I have silicone molds I did not have a lot of molds to sell.
I am thinking – yes I do have a ton of molds to sell. Like I said this site linked to my blog. They were right I did not have anything to sell on my blog. People must not be able to see my website URL listed in the side navigation bar.
I want that traffic to visit awhile and if they are interested I want to provide them with silicone molds they can buy. You want customers to buy immediately from you when they are in the mood to buy. The quicker you can get them to hit the cart button the better. If that is what my visitors wanted then I want to give that to them.
How many steps it takes for the visitor to buy from your website:
- Visitor clicks into your blog
- Reads a couple posts
- Tries to find your business link
- Finally gets into website (if they make it that far)
- Navigation bar
- Product
- Buys from cart
How many steps it takes for the visitor to buy from your blog:
- Browse through interesting posts
- See your sales page
- Finds the product
- Hits buy now button
You want the path with fewer steps to your cart if they are browsing through your blog.
The 2 blog styles that I know you can sell from are Wordpress (this is the one I use) and Blogger. I know you cannot sell through Wordpress.com. There are free ecommerce carts that you can set up that work with the blog program.
