Growing your list starts with a seed. You may be wondering “what is this seed?”
The seed is in this quick tip #2. Here is your quick tip #2.
Think of your opt-in box (sign-up box) as your opportunity to convert one time visitors into long term relationships through follow up emails. Good placement of your opt-in box will increase your chances that the visitor will sign up. Place your opt-in box on every page of your website. This makes it easier for your readers to sign up without searching for it.
Where to place your opt-in box?
1. Some use a pop-up or pop-over forms that hover over their site.
* I personally don’t like these and also don’t use them. I will have to experiment one of these days to see what gets the most response.
2. In-line forms placed near the top of your website. This style allows for easy access and are seen “above the fold” of the computer.
* visitors can easily sign-up once they see what you have to offer.
* I like this style. I like to put a small description with my in-line form so the subscribers knows what to expect.
* I place mine in the upper left or right hand corner of my website
3. Links- place a link in the footer of every page of your site that directs visitors to an opt-in box
* I have never tried this style, but I am going to have to experiment with this one also.
Test all these forms out and see what one converts one time visitors into long term relationships. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Don’t forget to create a strong “call-to-action” in the opt-in box text. Tell the visitors what to expect from your emails and what to do next. (Sign up =) )
Give them detailed instruction on how to check their email and click on the enclosed like to make sure they receive their freebie is always a good idea.
