I have decided to participate in my friends hostess party. I prefer call it a “craft show party” because there are 2 other vendors setting up. One vendor is a jewelry maker and the other one sells Tastefully Simple. This small show is comprised of a unique mix of goodies.
It has been 5 years since I have done a craft show. Bit out of practice wouldn’t you say or is tackling this home “craft show party” like riding a bike?
This small menagerie of vendors doesn’t complement each other. I feel sometimes you don’t have to complement each other to make the show to work. Having the same caliber of quality still can create a great show.
Have you ever hosted a craft show party before. I have visited a hosted open house before. They were a lot of fun.
What makes a craft show home party and an open house different? An open house only hosts one vendor. A craft show home party hosts more vendors.
A craft show home party has the ability to cater and appeal to more visitors. Although they may not be interested in vendor A’s products they maybe interested in vendor B’s products.
Hosting a craft show home party could be more fun and less stressful. The stress wouldn’t fall on just one vendor. Have many vendors involved with all the planning decorating mailing and contacting people. The outcome could be tremendous.
Here are some quick tips to host your own craft show:
- Invite vendor friends – having a variety of items for your show enhances the quaint home craft show
- Add to your visitors experience by giving out goody bags to the first 10-20 shoppers. These goody bags can be filled with fun samples from other vendors. You can find other vendors by getting on your candle or soap forum and offering this as free advertising to the business owners. You can also find potential vendors on Etsy. Don’t have vendors just send marketing materials. You want samples.
- Make the experience feel like a huge festival. Offer food and drinks at your party. Play some holiday music.
- Make your craft show an annual event.
P.S. Tell me all about your craft show experiences.
