Candle Making Project: The Christmas Holly Leaf Special

by dawnaurora on November 12, 2009

frontholly.2I know that is not the most spectacular name for this project, but I named anything that is made from this mold “the_____ special” because the iron skillet silicone mold reminds me of the meals my husband makes on our camping trips.  The meal he makes is called “the camper special”.

This is a nice project for Christmas.  It is sure to bring in some Christmas cheer.

You will need:

hollyproject.1

  • Make your wax skillet and your holly leaves.  I made about 10 holly leaves

  • You can either place your wicks on top of the skillet or take a warmed wick pin and melt 2 holes where you want them.  I use 2 wicks because they burn better in a candle of this size.

  • Here is what it looks like underneath the wax skillet

  • Fill the skillet 5/6 the way up with prepped melted wax.  Make sure your wax is not hotter than the wax skillet otherwise you will melt the skillet

  • Pour the wax when it cools down to the slushy phase.  It should look similar to this after you are done.  I wanted pour of a wavy layering of the wax
  • After you have poured your slushy wax place the holly leaves on top where ever you desire
  • The finished product should look similar to this Christmas fun

The fragrance I used for this was actually half bayberry and half apple dumpling.  It smells pretty nice.  I cannot wait to burn this baby.

Enjoy the project.

Many Blessings,

Dawn
