What I Learned On Our Trip To Gettysburg

lord.1How was your Thanksgiving?  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of great tasting food, family and thanks.  This Thanksgiving was my first attempt at making a turkey and pumpkin pie.  I dare say that it turned out pretty good. I cheated on the turkey by using the turkey bag.  No regrets just great turkey.

The kids have been begging us to go somewhere during their Thanksgiving vacation.  We decided to go to Gettysburg.  I have never been there.  Kind of sad since it is a big part of our Pennsylvania history.

I never was a history buff, but  my oldest daughter,Oksana, and my husband love it.  Because of their love for history, that sparked my interest. :)

all4.1We walked around the battle fields, looked at the pictures, and read the history behind Devil’s Den and Little Round Top.  It was so blustery and cold that we did not get to tour the whole battlefield like we wanted.

There were some photo footage of the aftermath taken only 3 days after.  So much happened on this 10 square mile piece of land.  It was very humbling to know what our nation will go through for freedom.

Here are the kids posing for me.

What I took away from visiting Gettysburg are the strategic maneuvers that the North and South took trying to win the battle.  One wrong move meant a whole army wiped out.  A plan needed to be in place by each of the troops.  If the person in command did not follow what the head leader  mapped out, then it left all the men open to defeat.    One wrong move could mean the end of freedom.

How important is mapping out your business plan?

Extremely, extremely important.  I cannot stress that enough.  It could make or break your business. It could cost you what freedom means to you.

A business plan can help you maneuver through those downturns.  It could help your progress and meet your daily, weekly or monthly goals.

Gather some great  soap making or candle making books that will help you keep focused on what is important to your business.   Fine tune, focus your business plan.

When I didn’t have a business plan I floundered and my business became stagnant.  I loved making molds and I didn’t want to lose my business because of lacking a business plan.  I put one together and all my business decisions fell into place.  I made decisions based on that business plan.

We are approaching the end of 2009.  Do you have a business plan in place?   What are your business goals?

The goal of my youngest is to eventually be the next president of the USA.
