I enjoy playing around with many ways to be creative with your candle. I found this candle technique in a candle book and decided to put a fun twist on it. The twist is very simple, but effective.
These etched pillar candles would make a nice statement for a table top, fire place setting, or an area where you would want an elegant candle.
Materials Needed To Make An Etched Candle:
- Green pillar candle or whatever colored candle you want
- White melted wax for the candle outer coating
- Wick
- Clay carving tools or knife
First make your pillar candle. After your candle cools off have your coating candle wax already melted and ready to dip your pillar candle into.

Before dipping make sure your candle coating wax is cool enough to stick to the pillar, but not so cold that it makes the outer coating bumpy.

Make the dipping process easier by having enough candle outer coating wax in your pouring pot to cover the pillar. This will prevent odd wax lines from forming on the pillar

Dip the pillar candle until you have about a 1/8 inch thick candle outer coating layer.

Here is a quick video on how I used the carving tools.
