Candle Making Project = How to Swirl Color In A White Candle

by dawnaurora on December 16, 2009

candleappleI decided to experiment a little bit for my craft show home party.  I was make a candle with the fragrance oil winter candy apple and  I wanted the wax to look swirly and candy cane like.

You will enjoy this candle coloring tip.  It is so much fun and so easy.

Materials Needed For Making Swirl Colors In A White Candle:
*In this case I made an enamel mug candle

  1. Candle Essentials – Wax, wick, fragrance oil, enamel mug
  2. Liquid Candle Color
  3. Bamboo skewer
  4. Apple Slice Silicone Mold

1.   Mix your wax that you are going to pour into your mug or container.

2.   Set aside a small amount of that wax

3.  Make your enamel mug candle.  Don’t fill the mug to the top

4.  Once the initial pour has cooled off take some more of the candle wax that you just poured and pour a top layer on the candle.  This will help keep the color from sinking to the bottom.

5.  You can add color one of 2 ways

Here is the first way:

  • Add a tiny drop here and there of color in various areas of the candle
  • Take your bamboo skewer and place the tip into the drop of color
  • Then draw a line from the color drop
  • Make colors swirls from that drop

Here is the second  way:

  • Take your bamboo skewer tip and dip it into your liquid candle color
  • Place the tip with the candle liquid color on it into your wax
  • Draw swirl lines throughout the candle.

Let me know how it turns out.  If you have any pictures of what you have created send them to me and I will post them up here.

Many Blessings,

Dawn
