I was sitting here thinking and reading about mind-mapping. It has been out for ages, but someone I think decided to call it mind mapping, but really it is just savvy planning your attack.
Even during the Civil War we don’t go in unaware of our surroundings, our obstacles we may face, and the objective we want to complete.
Don’t let your craft shows take you over and you just be like a floundering fish.
Take control of your craft shows, website and other avenues of revenue.
Go into each with an objective, how you plan to achieve, what goals do you want to accomplish with each objective.
Here is my example.
As many of you already know I am putting together a craft show this Saturday at my house. It is basically to put together a party for my friend, but we decided to make it more. My friend is selling her jewelry, I will have my candles and there will be a Tastefully Simple lady there. It is going to be a wonderful time.
What is my goal?
My goal is to of course have people buy some candles and tarts, but I also want to promote my tart site. I want to drive traffic there when I am not able to sell to them at a party, craft show or shoppe. This is where having a compelling offer for people to visit your show or booth helps.
I am basing a lot of my tasks on the ebook Stop Burning Time and Money in Your Candle Business. I didn’t want to go over board and stress myself out. I only had 3 weeks to prepare for this show and I am in my last week.
My Goals Candle Product Goals:
- Select Fragrances – I am only carrying 5 tried and true fragrances. These are ones that I have tested and know that they work well with my para-soy blend wax
- One size container candle
- 4 styles of tarts
- 1 wick size for the container already done
- And easy labels that have my new online business name and labels
I know that I needed main goals. So, I have to figure out how much I have invested into this craft show already. These include the silicone molds I made, wax, wicks, enamel cups, time, electricity, labels. You may not be able to come up with exact figures, but give a round about figure that would cover time, and electricity. Since this is a show that I have put together, I am including drinks, food and brochures.
I have made enough product to cover these aspects and more. This need to be worth my time.
My Goals With My Craft Show Open House:
- To start advertising my business locally
- Establish local testimonials
- To have a great turn out
- Have enough product to cover my expenses
- Have brochures on my new site, so I can drive people to my site when they cannot get to me through other parties, craft shows
- To get repeat orders, and maybe wholesale accounts.
- Feedback on what kinds of candles and fragrances the local people like
There is a lot of information that you can receive from a show. What is great about me having my own open house craft show is that the focus is on me and my business and what I can do for the customers. I am not in competition with any other candle maker.
Establish ahead of time what your goals are for each and every show, consignment shop, wholesale account that you do. Make sure you have a money percentage that you want to meet, and increased business traffic rate and even a goal of establishing yourself as an expert in your business.
What are your goals when you go into a show?
Many Blessings,
