I didn't have any problems with the paint smell. Maybe the modge podge seals it up. Try even setting the can outside to get rid of the smell. I am so glad you like the topper. Love it!) I like the mod podge idea, I tried just spray painting, and found that when I did the test burn I smelled paint more than the candle. Hopefully the mod podge will eliminate that! Thanks!
