Making Your Blog More Relational

Making my blog more community oriented is another goal for 2010. My last post on goals was so long I decided to keep this one separate.
In order to establish more activity among your readers and to build more traffic you need to have your blog set up more as a community.

Tips on how to set up your blog more as a community:

  1. Ask your bloggers questions in your P.S. area at the end of the post.  Lately I have been inviting people to join our forum
  2. Allow your readers to benefit from your blog by including their own blog post, keyword phrase or allowing a dofollow attribute to your blog
  3. Responding to your readers when they make a comment on your post
  4. Allowing the readers to get an update on the post if someone comments

Basically what you want to do it engage your readers at every turn.  It is the equivilent of welcoming someone into your store.  Asking them if you can help out in any way.  Remaining in constant contact with them when they come back to visit.

It is more difficult to engage a blogging community because of the nature of the net.  It can be done.

Other ways To Make Your Blog More Relational:

  1. Post frequently
  2. Provide Relevant links within your post and at the bottom of your post
  3. A good use of pictures
  4. Transparency – show your readers your mistakes, blunders and triumphs.  I will say that I am pretty good at making mistakes and blunders. :)

Many Blessings,

Dawn

Thanks Lea. Making my blog more relational is one of my goals this year. I want to help my readers out even more. If I receive a comment pertaining to a specific post, that will help me figure out what I need to talk about more or go into more detail.
