Primitive candles are popular in my neck of the woods. Using primitive candle molds is one of the many ways to add a bit of “prim”. Silicone molds are easy to use, saving on time and effort.
Here is a fun candle making project that is exclusive for the primitive candle world. What better way to add “prim” than with crows, putka pods, acorns and a funky primitive dish.
Primitive Candle Molds Used:
- Treenware Bowl Mold
- Small Pear Silicone Mold
- Putka Pod Mold
- Acorn Silicone Mold
- Mini Crow Silicone Mold
- Large Crow With Star Mold
Candle Making Project Materials:
- Fragrance Oil
- Wicks
- Wax
- Drill
- Primitive Candle Colors
Step 1: Make your acorns, small pears, crows, treenware bowl from the primitive silicone molds. Make enough of these embeds to fill the bowl.
Step 2: Drill holes in the middle of the large crow with star, and 1 small pear.
Step 3: Melt more wax and color it black to match the treenware. Fill the bowl with the melted wax up ¾ of the way.
* Note: When you pour make sure that the wax you pour isn’t so hot it melts the dish. Very disheartening when that happens.
* Note – I pour twice. One to fill up half way. I allow that layer to cool completely. Then I fill up one more quarter and start putting my primitive embeds into the wax. They won’t sink to the bottom of the bowl.
Step 4: Place the primitive embeds in the bowl in random order. Make an area for the 2 wicks in the bowl. Remember that the large crow and pear are going to top off the wick
Step 5: Drill wick holes into the treenware dish. Wick the dish.
Voila!!
