3 New Additions To Our Family

by dawnaurora on April 20, 2010

sheep.1And they are not 3 new kids. :) .  Last Friday my hubby and I took a 10 hour round trip to beautiful West Virginia where we bought our first ever sheep.  These are not any ordinary sheep.  They are known as Coopworth sheep known for their dual purpose of wool and meat.

The breed isn’t well known in the States yet because they are fairly new.

Do you want to see pics of our new babies?

We purchase a ram, ewe and her baby.  Now their names the ram – King Tut, ewe – Daphne (we renamed because on her registration it is Sister Ewe), and the lamb is Lamby Pie compliments of my husband.

This is our first time ever having sheep.  Our journey so far:

  • 2 freaked out horses who almost tore down the fencing
  • King Tut takes down a portion of the pen and all three are wondering around the yard
  • We made a separate pen for the lamb to eat.  The ram and ewe can squeeze through the 14X14 inch opening.  It was quite funny to see the ram squeeze his heiner through

King Tut ( Hubby calls him Lug-head)

So far the journey has been fun.  I know there will be more antics as we learn about the wonderful world of sheep.  Lucky you, you get to hear all about it ;) .

Many Blessings,

Dawn

thanks so much Carol. They are a complete riot. Have to stay on our toes with them. The ram has character coming out of his ears, but he is still a ram. The mom and here baby are adorable. The baby cracks us up with it starts to jump and ram around. The horses are settling down, but they get freaked every so often.
Blessings to you Carol
